Frequently Asked Questions
How can I make an appointment?
You can make an appointment by calling me at (347) 453-1601, Contacting Me on this website or sending me an email.
What are your credentials?
I am a Licensed Psychoanalyst in New York, and a State Certified Psychoanalyst in New Jersey.
I completed the License Qualifying Program at the National Psychological Association for Psychoanalysis (NPAP), New York, New York. I received my PhD in Chemistry from the University of Puerto Rico.
I am affiliated with the Theodor Reik Clinical Center for Psychotherapy in Manhattan.
I am a candidate member of the National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis. I am a member of Psychoanalysis Now.
What are your fees?
I have a sliding scale that makes therapy affordable for many individuals and couples. I also have variable fees depending on the services you are seeking.
However, if my fee range does not fall within your budget, I will be glad to give you information about a psychotherapy referral service that may suit your needs.
What forms of payment do you accept?
The following forms of payment are acceptable: cash, check, debit and credit cards, bank transfers, Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA).
What about health insurance?
I am "in-network" with CIGNA and Blue Cross Blue Shield. Here are some questions you should ask your insurance company.
If your insurance company is not CIGNA or BCBS, there is still a possibility that it may reimburse you for fees paid. You must check with you insurance company to see if your plan covers "out-of-network" providers.
How long is a therapy session?
Individual sessions are 45 minutes and couples sessions are 55 minutes. Groups sessions are 70 minutes long.
What are your expectations regarding attendance?
The therapeutic journey requires discipline; therefore, I ask my patients to commit to attending sessions.
There are up to 3 weeks during a calendar year that you may use for vacation, travel, and other personal commitments. You are not responsible to pay for sessions during those weeks, but please notify me in advance.
On the other hand, you are not financially responsible when I am out of the office attending professional or personal commitments (usually a maximum of 3 weeks per calendar year).
What is your cancelation policy?
If you are unable to keep your appointment, call me at least 48 hours in advance to schedule a make-up session at a mutually convenient time and day. Otherwise, you will be responsible to pay for the missed session.
